The old services URL now explains the desk, not a crew

The 2019 site used the way every small trade site does: a list of things a workshop would like to be paid for. This rebuild is not a workshop. Deleting the path would break a clean URL. Rewriting it as a fake service menu would be worse. So the path stays, and the job changes.

This page tells you how the guide is put together, who it is for, and how to take it to someone who actually holds a licence.

The stack of pages

Home states the niche and the evidence rule. Hubs cover splashbacks, shower screens, balustrades, mirrors, windows, safety and costs. Heritage paths keep the 2019 nouns — framed, semi-frameless, sliding, frosted, Starphire, accessories — as rewritten explainers. Guides on slow down. About and contact are the desk.

Unknown URLs are a real 404. Messy ones 301 once. That is a service of a sort: you are not dropped into a parked page.

The method we reuse on every topic

1. Name the room or the assembly.
2. Name the NCC clause if one exists.
3. Name the standard the NCC calls up — AS 1288 or AS 2047 or the AS/NZS 1170 series.
4. Answer the first question in the first sentence of the FAQ.
5. Refuse a price, a ranking, and a made-up operator.

If a page skips step 3, it should have a reason (for example, a purely organisational page like this one). If it skips step 5, it has failed the brief.

Who the “service” is for

Homeowners who need language for a request for quote. Builders who need a link that will not embarrass them in a client email. Trades editors who need a guest-post source that already cites the ABCB. Students who have been told “just use safety glass” and want to know which table.

It is not for someone who needs a pane on Friday. That person needs a glazier, a measure, and a lead time we will not invent.

What we will not add to this URL

We will not add a phone number that rings a crew. We will not add “service areas” as if we drive a van. We will not add a booking widget. The contact form is editorial. The warranty page is a question list, not a warranty we issue.

If you came here expecting a list — splashbacks, showers, mirrors — use the header. Those are hubs. They are not line items on an invoice from us.

How to commission work using this site

Write down the opening, the use, and the clause you think applies. Paste the relevant hub. Ask the practitioner to confirm or correct the clause. Ask for the mark under 8.4.8 if the pane is safety glass. Ask for the 1170 actions if it is a barrier. That is the entire “service” this domain now performs.
